Virginia Reynolds - Gloucestershire based Pilates
Pilates is a “mind and body technique”…
….It is a great way to work your centre, and from that to build your overall strength.
I love Pilates, and have been doing it myself for over 14 years, but teaching classes since qualifying with APPI in 2009 as a matwork instructor.
With classes now back into halls, we will still be mindful of space in Coaley and Nibley Village Hall. I still run two Zoom only classes, started with the onset of Covid lockdowns, but you may find it more convenient as you are too far away to attend a ‘live’ class. 1:1 or 1:2 sessions can also be run from my home studio, where you have the added advantage of using my large studio based equipment not available in my classes.
I run friendly, interactive mat-based classes (maximum 12 participants in Coaley Village Hall and , 10 participants at Nibley Village Hall) all classes are mixed ability. We use a variety of small equipment. Clients provide their own equipment, which I can help you source if required.
Each term we focus on different piece of small equipment so that you can see your progression over the term.
I also offer private lessons in my home studio in Cam (Dursley). This is equipped with a Pilates Reformer, Tower, and Arc Barrel - a great way to boost core and general strength in a private, focused and relaxed setting. The large equipment is a fantastic way to increase your strength whether we are looking at return from injury or to push your levels with a competitive level.
A 1:1 is recommended for all new participants especially for those who are new to Pilates or have had a break and need a refresher.
A 1:1 session is also a good time to deal with any specific areas you would like to work on, whether that is aiming for a specific event, activity or for a problem in area. This is where a series of sessions works at its best. These sessions can either be mat or large equipment based (Reformer, tower, arc barrel or small equipment) but always with a home exercise programme to complement with small equipment or body weight to aid your progression.
I am happy to run 1:1 or 1:2 sessions with specific aims in mind, either small or large equipment based, or activity based (eg pregnancy, cycling, running, horse riding).
